Is Your Boiler Servicer Gas Safe Registered?

For a task as delicate as installing or replacing your gas boiler, safety should always be a priority. It’s a mistake to blindly entrust this to anyone just because he’s listed in your community pages or on the Web, claiming he can do the job. To ensure that your servicer is well-equipped and skilled in handling your gas appliance, confirm whether he is certified under the Gas Safe Register.

Every Gas Safe Engineer carries a card indicating his unique licence number and the type of gas and equipment he can work on. If it’s a business, ask for the business registration number. After getting the number, you may check its validity through the website or simply text or call the Gas Safe Register.

In the website, find the ‘Check an Engineer or Business’ page under the ‘HELP’ tab. There you will find a search form where you can input the worker’s licence or registration number. The website will provide you all the necessary information about the servicer, if registered.

If you intend to check it through text, simply type ‘Gas’ and the licence or registration number to 85080. You will receive a message confirming whether the number is registered or not. For a quicker feedback, you may call the free helpline 0800 408 5500.

Unregistered operatives have been linked to boiler-malfunction that have led to CO poisoning, leaks, and explosions. Do a background check before the installer carries out any type of work— your family’s safety here could be at risk.
